Kit Kat Update Annoyances

I'm 5 days into the KitKat update, S4, ATT...no sms issues....and maybe this is the wrong place for this, but i don't post here often so someone can virtually whip me if i am outa line.....but, the update made changes to features that I like and has now just ticked me off.....i'm sure I will find more, but the first few are, changed the icon colors in the top bar, so now it all blends in and I can't just glance at my battery life and know if I need to charge it.....took away my ability to hide apps that I don't use very often so now I have to go through ALL of them to get to the apps I do use.....while having a sms conversation, previously when the delay would just get about to turn off my phone, is a new msg came in it would light back up and reset the time, now it does not do this...i can NOT for the life of me disable the predictive text!....freaking annoying!!

I have grown to prefer the simple, white notification bar icons such as battery, wifi and network data, etc...

I do miss the ability to hide apps in the app drawer. I disabled a bunch of bloat and then created a folder in the app drawer called "ZZ - Bloat". I then moved the rest of the apps I don't care about to that folder. For me, The ZZ pushed the folder to the very end of the app drawer...

I am not sure I understand your SMS issue. Please try to explain a little better or maybe just in a different way... Sorry...

I don't use the stock keyboard, but if you go to Settings>My Device>Language and Input then click the little gear next to Samsung Keyboard. You should see an On/Off toggle for Predictive Text...

How did you move the unwanted apps to your ZZ file. I created such a file in the app drawer but couldn't move app icons to that file.

Within your app drawer, tap the menu button (just left of the physical home button on your device) and then tap Edit. Then just tap and hold and move them to the folder the same as you would when on your homescreen.

The SMS/MMS and radios are the worst ever! What do these features have to do with securing the offboard memory? Then diddling with the icons in the notification bar....why? Were they broke? It's no wonder this OS never seems stable. I wonder if I should go to Apple on my next phone.

I think the answer is to go for an unbranded, if possible, or lightly branded phone next time.

Unfortunately, Verizon also have their own, unique, modem for their, modified, version of KitKat....
