Kit Kat Update

I think I have to side with the article. I think the reason we haven't seen the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 , and both Nexus 7s is because they're waiting until 4.4.1 is finished and they'll push it out to all of them at that time.

ughhh this makes me think there might be a camera update and should I wait to send this phone back?....

I believe I saw a blog post that a camera update is coming to speed it up as far as taking pictures goes. This very well might be it.

Ah so there are other complaints about camera speed, sorry if I missed a thread.

It is atrocious though.

Yeah, it's a little slow compared to previous Nexus devices. Let me look to see if I can find where I saw that Google was planning on a fix to speed it up.

Chris put a disclaimer at the bottom of his camera review, but there was no source attached to it.

you gave Focal a try??

I did give it a go. The app looks pretty awesome but did not run any where near stable. When in camera mode I would get error cannot take picture randomly. The vid record would start but then the screen would freeze after 3-4 secs and it appeared that it kept recording but there was no video saved. The options of that app look like exactly what the N5 needs to be a better camera though.

For me, Focal isnt polished enough for everyday use.

For those who are referring to shutter lag, the nexus 5 comes with HDR+ turned on by default. If you turn that off it becomes significantly faster to take photos

This is the first thing I turned off on mine. I can still count...1...2...3 secs before it snaps a pic. Its possible I have a glitch or bad hardware etc but the lag seems to be coming more from the device attempting to focus rather than the HDR etc being on. Every so often it doesn't even attempt to focus and then the speed is great...but the photos are blurred..
