Thanks --- this is all I need to hold off on the update.

After the kit kat update the auto rotation stopped working!I tried factory reset but the problem still exists! Any idea?

You mean it won't work even when its enabled?
Mine works fine, in fact I've had no issues at all, I'm even thinking the battery might be lasting a tad longer also. Only thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of flash support on the stock browser, if it becomes an issue I will get a copy of Dolphin browser, apparently its the only browser supporting flash in Android 4.4.2 right now on stock firmware.

Partially correct, you can not turn off root, or uninstall it, you either have it or don't. You gain it by flashing a rooted "insecure" Kernel.

The only way to unroot is flash the original firmware for your device. This is why it is wise to download the original firmware and keep it safe before rooting and installing other things, then you can always go back.

I can unroot with a click of a button with Kingo.

No need to flash with original firmware.

Why do carrier branded handsets are getting the update now before the unbranded international one? So random. :(

You can, yes, but do you have a custom recovery ? For it is that rather than rooting that borks OTA.

It is a common misconception that a rooted phone will not receive an OTA update, if that is all you have done then it will do, but seeing how a rooted phone without a custom recovery is sort of "half done" and in the past (SGIII's SGSII's etc) when rooted (with ChainFire's rooting kernels) also installed a custom CWM based recovery. This is how the misunderstanding took hold, it is a useful one as a rule of thumb, but it "aint necessarily so".
