Have patience. The Kit Kat update is more of a maintenance update than anything else. My LG G2 got updated the other day from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 and i can't really tell you i see much difference.
Most changes from one version of android to the next are under the hood.
I'm not sure I'd classify them as maintenance(that's your 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 releases), but on a mature operating system you shouldn't see huge user facing changes. Look how people reacted to windows 8


Large changes from 4.3 to 4.4:
Change from "holo" blue to white theme,
Translucent nav bar
Wireless printing
Nfc host card emulation
Optimizations for low spec devices
Built in screen recording
ART runtime
Additionally, some of the new changes are hardware dependent (audio tunneling, IR blaster support, ect)
That's not to say you'll see all of that on an update, because what your manufacturer adds/subtracts is a whole new layer of modification.
