Kit Kat

Have patience. The Kit Kat update is more of a maintenance update than anything else. My LG G2 got updated the other day from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 and i can't really tell you i see much difference.

Most changes from one version of android to the next are under the hood.

I'm not sure I'd classify them as maintenance(that's your 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 releases), but on a mature operating system you shouldn't see huge user facing changes. Look how people reacted to windows 8 ;)

Large changes from 4.3 to 4.4:
Change from "holo" blue to white theme,
Translucent nav bar
Wireless printing
Nfc host card emulation
Optimizations for low spec devices
Built in screen recording
ART runtime

Additionally, some of the new changes are hardware dependent (audio tunneling, IR blaster support, ect)

That's not to say you'll see all of that on an update, because what your manufacturer adds/subtracts is a whole new layer of modification.

I want the upgrade because SwiftKey claims it will solve the default keyboard issue. They say it isn't their problem, it's the OS.... Right

It may very well fix the problem but not because it was a problem with Jelly Bean but because they actually fixed the bug in Kit Kat.

Has anybody in the U.S. gotten the KitKat update for their Note 10.1 yet? Still waiting here!

From some rumour (from the customer care) it will come in the middle of may. And i bet whenever it comes, there will be thousends of posts, so you dont need to ask whether or not anyone has gotten it.

NO - you will see it, if anyone gets that. Internet will be flooding by messages...

Some rumour was, that it should have come on 8.5., but it didnt :/

Havent heard about that, but the other rumour was "... in the middle of may..." - so lets pray all together (greetings from 'The misery cult of waiting updates for Samtoys' - feel free to join us!)

What's it going to be now middle of July?

In the UK got 4.4.2 yesterday not a lot of difference but the real problem is that you cannot save to your external SD card apparently now looking have put it on it is apparently common problem. There are work around on the Internet but you have to be rooted tablet for me now might as well be a brick. I would like to use my tablet how long want too not how Samsung want me to. One grumpy old man.

I had hoped there might be some improvements in the way s-note works, but it is broadly similar. However the handwriting recognition appears to have undergone a rewrite which is interesting. I'll have to play with that for a bit, currently I don't use it because it just got too clunky for me.

The notification bar has moved to the top, I can't work out how to stop it smoothly zooming down when you open it because it is so slowwww

Has anybody noticed the battery life it's supposed to be better but mine seems to be a lot worse normally last a full day now having to charge mid afternoon. :(

If you haven't performed a factory reset after the OTA, that's a good thing to do
