Help Lag when going from portrait keyboard to landscape

I was hoping that Froyo would fix this, but I updated to 2.2 and it is still there. Whenever I want to switch to the landscape keyboard and rotate my phone, there is a noticeable 2-3 second lag before the keyboard changes. I use the Swype keyboard. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? As it stands, I NEVER use the landscape keyboard because it takes so long to come up. The portrait mode is a pain in the ass when entering web addresses.
