Help Lag when typing SMS text messages

Is anyone finding that there is sometimes a significant lag when typing text messages.

I am not having it all the time but I have found that closing apps down does not solve the problem.

Have you tried re-starting the phone?

Yes but it starts doing it again shortly after (minutes/hours, not days).

I havent noticed it when typing in any other app

Try a different texting app like Handcent or Chomp? It sounds like a software bug, rooting nd installing a custom ROM will probably do the trick too.

In the past, lag in the messaging app has been attributed to the amount of messages stored in memory. Try limiting the number of saved texts per conversation to 100 or less. If the problem disappears, you can increase the number until it begins to lag again.

I have the same issue with my Galaxy Nexus which appears to get worse the larger the message is.

I'll try deleting older messages and see if that helps.
