Laggy startup

I just upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6(KK2). I did backup and everything else is fine. The only problem is that now whenever I reboot my phone I notice that the app drawer is messed up (2 apps are put in that shouldn't be part of those 4 apps at the bottom of the home screen). When I try to click applications it doesn't go to where all my apps are instead it shows me a clear homepage screen. But then all the problems disappear once all the media scanning has finished.

Could this be because i did not wipe/factory reset my phone before upgrading to 2.3.6? Or is this just what KK2 does.

It could be that you need to wait until media scanning has completed :P

I had the same issue when I installed BlackMart (I was on KI3 at the time). Installed 2 games and those games replaced the 2 left apps at the bottom, but they disappear after a few seconds. My fix was doing a full-wipe when I installed a new ROM.

With a firmware jump of that magnitude, 2.3.3 to 2.3.6, I would definitely recommend a, "full wipe", zms123.

Do not use a nandroid, CWM, backup to do a restore to your phone as this will only be restoring a mirror image of your 2.3.3 firmware and negate any wipe. Instead, use Titanium Backup to restore your app's, etc.

Hope this helps. :D

Is it normal to not see your carrier's name on the lock screen when you update to a Frankenstein firmware? Mine used to say Virgin but now it doesn't say anything there. Also the laggy start is now fixed.

the problem is due to incomplete, corrupted, incompatible db for holding the data for the launcher. a wipe will help, or if u r familiar with linux environment, just replace/remove the db or folder
