Laptop Dock Error Msg

I asked over in XDA.. but thought I'd ask you all as well. I keep getting a low memory error box that pops up on my laptop dock. I never have more than 2 tabs open & I have oodles of memory on the phone itself. I continuously close tabs, clear history, & kill tasks (on the phone ).

A person on XDA suggested I partition, but I want to keep the phone stock right now. Any thoughts?

there is 1 gig of ram on the lapdock. that is probably what the error is referring to. I don't know how to clear it though.

Depending on how you are killing tasks could be part of the problem. I suggest you turn off automatic task killing and if you feel you must kill tasks (I never do) do it on demand. My lapdock has never given me a low memory error and I am using it heavily.

It was off. I'm at a loss as to what to do. When the "Low Memory" message pops up, it shows what percentages of memory are being used by both my phone and the lapdock. The laptop memory is always in the teens or lower while my phone shows 60% or higher when this happens. Of course, when I kill tasks and clean cache, it's still pretty high, even though the phone shows I have 2.90GB free. Hmph. What am I missing? Apparently, my experience is causing me to miss something.

Anyone else have an answer to this? I was lurking hoping there was a magic setting I could do to fix it as I have the same problem. lol.

I fire up the lap dock, open Firefox, and not more than 1 min. in I get the same message. If I ignore it, Firefox closes out. So frustrating.

And I don't have a lot of stuff going on... The only way I can temp. fix it is to stop all my memory services (facebook, messenger, etc.. the RAM munchers) but they auto re start in a few min so I am right back where I was. Grrr..

I have wondered this as well and have looked for an answer, but why don't you just use the phone browser? That's what I've done to "fix" it.

Even though I hadn't gotten low memory warnings I started monitoring the Memory Manager under Advanced on the settings gear wheel on the top row. I opened File Manager and Firefox from the lapdock menu bar and checked the Memory Manager. The bionic showed 65%, Firefox 15%, and File Manager 0% with 20% memory remaining. I closed the apps and checked memory again and it had bionic at 59% and memory remaining at 41%. This probably doesn't help anyone getting warnings, but I thought it was interesting.

This does help. Using the bionic browser gave me 36% free memory compared to 20% free for Firefox.

I have noticed that opening ONLY ONE TAB on Firefox greatly reduces the Low Memory warning as well.

Also, I have read elsewhere to use the Task Manager, PRIOR TO CONNECTING TO THE LAPDOCK, and Close all running Apps you don't need running.

Using both seem to work.

Since installing Memory Booster (full version), things seem to be better. I have it set to Auto Boost & noticed it boosted a couple of times while I was using the laptop dock. Hopefully this is the fix I'm looking for. 'Probably won't know for sure until I've used the laptop dock a few more times.

I have not experienced low memory errors when using my lapdock with Firefox/multiple tabs. Use to be rooted but now running stock 902. Hopefully it will hang in there until ICS.

Alrighty - I've been using my laptop dock exclusively since installing Memory Booster on my Bionic and I've had ZERO Low Memory Error Msgs! There is a FREE lite version available also, but I bought the FULL version for $2.99 and I run it on AUTO. SO worth the $$ IMHO.

'Hope this helps those of you with the same issue. :)

It contains a task killer. Task killers are known to cause faster battery depletion because some apps are killed and they restart ... are killed and they restart ... are killed and they restart ...

This adds a heavy added battery load.

What has been your battery experience with Memory Boost?

Thom,

I don't think I can say with any accuracy since I've been using the laptop dock and it recharges my phone. I'll need to lay off use of my laptop dock to get a fair assessment. BTW- I see you're from Keene. I was just there! Beautiful town!

Errrr, spoke to soon, got the dreaded low memory error!

I have used the free version of Memory Booster for a while. Gave it a "quick boost", problem solved.

Ran all late afternoon yesterday through this morning without charging or using the laptop dock - no battery drain issues.
