Right now I have no need of root access. Only thing I could think on the top of my head would be to remove bloatware.

Roms that is a good reason. As well as changing LCD density, overclocking, undervolting, customization of system icons, backing up user app data, making backups of your phone in it's current state, ability to take screen shots, and learning more about android just to come up with a few reasons
