last update (that was pulled)

I just got my new (unlocked) and so did a friend of mine a couple of weeks before me. He was able to get the 2.2.1 update but obviously its not longer available so i dont have it.

I have read in many places that the update was supposed to fix the weak speaker issue. However when i compare my phone to my friend's..they both sound the same (just as weak)..

Does anyone know when HTC will put on another update and whether it will in fact improve the speaker sound?

I wasn't overly happy with the speaker volume or frequency response and have received the latest upgrade to 2.2.1

My feeling is that the volume hasn't been improved but that the equalisation is significantly better. Nothing to back this up of course, although I'm pretty convinced that it does sound better, albeit not louder.

edit: this fits in with what I would expect to be technically possible... if it's already at full volume, nothing can improve on this whereas equalisation changes are always possible.

i wonder why they made the speaker so weak in the first place? my hero is way louder and its an older model..weird.

Atleast it vibrates so i feel it in my pocket as opposed to hearing it then again it depends on the ring tone because some of them do sound a lot louder than others.

By the way Springy, i read in a post somewhere here that HTC replied to someones emailing saying they are planning a 'release'of something in a week or so for the HDH thats supposed to improve battery and sound.
