Is there a website from where I can know the latest firmware for my region i.e. India?

Its best to just connect your phone to the PC with Kies, then it will check to see if you have the latest version for your handset, in your particular region.

but what if it's not checking it efficiently?

I have problems with Kies tbh, but only the sync with outlook, its updated my firmware after I got the phone so I assume that part works ok.
