Latest i9100 modems

Come on Shotty. Surely you've got us a link to new updated modem by now.....
You just can't get the staff these days!
:D

Thanks shoty. Interestingly check rom in the new change log still thinks kl1 gives a far superior battery. Personally I ditched this ages ago. Anyone share the kl1 love?

Thanks Shottie! :)

Early days, but LPH modem is looking good. A strong, consistent, signal.

Of course, for me, there is only one real life/usage test and that unfortunately entails me having to go to the, "Twilight Zone", public house, notorious for its lack of cell phone signal. In the interests of research, I will try and make the effort to carry out a series of comparison tests over the weekend.

Samsung should really thank you for the sacrifices you have to make testing their modems.:D

All seems good for me so far. Its starting to get hard to choose between these.

all well here too (almost) ;) i have even slightly better signal in "black spots" @ office but need more tests as i had some issues with constant disconnecting while downloading... but few hours l8r it was fine again so dunno if its this modem or sth was wrong with my carrier...

That's always the problem with testing modems. Carrier signals vary depending on the location and time of day. This is why I always give it about a week before making any decisions.

Its a dirty job Shottie but someone has to do it! :D

To be honest, at this early stage, I can't see much, if any, difference between LPB and LPH.

Hi guys
been testing the new lph modem and for me its 50/50.
standard signal in a very black spot has gone up from 1 bar average to 4. It dose drop now and then but creeps back up. 3g on the other hand is bad. I used to get a mix of 3g and H now only g. speed test on lpb was download 1.40 upload 1.03 ping 99ms. On lph download 0.01 upload 0.03 and ping 800.
Shame as the phone signal was hugely improved.

Thanks Shottie! :)

What app are you using to monitor your speeds in that pic? I'm using LPH since this morning and appear to be getting great speeds so far, although I'm not sure if it's just placebo and would like to be able to take a slightly more scientific approach :p

The clue to the name of the app is cunningly disguised at the top of my screenshot... Network Signal Info.

As you can see from this screenshot, dBm/ASU do not tell the whole story as Percent has to be taken into account as well. Compare this to my earlier screenshot showing 4 bars of signal and this one showing just 3.

LBP was giving me fantastic battery life. Could easily manage 2 days out of it with games, music, browsing, facebook, voice & texts.

Only issue would be my signal strength, so I'm trying LPH now.

Hah, I guess I should have realised that! Thanks.

There doesn't seem too much difference in the real-world between LPB and LPH for me, but I'm finding LPB is a little better on battery than LPH.

I've reverted back to LPB.

Come on Shottie! wakey! wakey!

LPH came out 3 weeks ago... there must be a new release by now!

I'm champing at the bit. ;)

(you just can't get the staff these days  )

:D
I had a look the other day and there weren't any new ones. All the recent ones came along with leaked ics firmware and I can't see anymore of these with the official release round the corner. I think we will have to wait for an official ics before we get a new modem.

That just stinks!
:)

That's not being fair on Lansford Hastings. More people survived than died. If they'd taken my shortcut it would've been 100% fatalities.

Edit: oh yeah, I just had another look and still no new modems. I'll check back about 2pm

2pm???
Hourly would mean a check at 13:40. Come on now Shotty, where's the commitment gone?

I love Donner Parties...... with a bit of garlic but plenty of chilli sauce.
