Root Latest official ROM for Eris??

I searched before posting :)!

What is the latest OFFICIAL update for the Eris on Verizon? I've seen a bunch of sites say that there is an unofficial 2.1 update for this phone, but so far haven't been able to confirm that there is an official, Verizon 2.1 update. Can anyone kindly help me? Thanks!

Yes, there sure is. The first 2.1 update was released in May 2010, followed by an ota patch update in July 2010. Finally, there was a last patch (also 2.1) released in March 2011.

The latest version is 2.41.605.6 (in settings->about phone, I think there is a setting in there for software version.)

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

In general (and I know everyone's opinion is different), but how does 2.1 run on the Eris vs something like say CM7.1? I'm looking at one for a backup for a trip I'm taking, and someone is selling an Eris with CM7.1 and was wondering if that route was better than the stock OTA 2.1?

Most of us who are still here are running CM7. If you decide to get the Eris, the fine folks in the root forum can help you with updating to the latest CM7 or rolling back to stock 2.1 -- whichever you prefer.

I think HTC and Verizon gave up way too soon on this little phone. It runs 2.3 really well. (2.2 not so much ....)
