Latest Update (Dec '11) - Big Problems

Hi all. I started a new thread on the new update (Dec 2011) because I am having a distinct problem that I have not seen mentioned.

After the update my battery life has regressed significantly. Before the recent update i was at like 50 or 60% after 14 or 15 hours of use. Now, after less than three hours I am already at 71%, and it gets worse throughout the day. And I have noticed that the phone is getting really hot around the battery compartment in the back. I am a little more than upset bc the phone was a gem before the update and now very subpar on both these issues.

Anyone have a similar experience and is there anything to do about it? I have yet to call verizon, but when I speak with them I will post an update.

Thanks in advance.

Just a thought, is there a way to revert back to the previous state before the update? I have a LG Esteem which they have found a way to go back to a previous version after doing an update. I have a friend with this particular phone(Incredible 2) and is having the same problem with battery life.

Have you tried the three steps? Reboot, if that doesn't help battery pull and if that doesn't do it, factory reset.

Did the factory reset. Overheating seems to be gone and battery appears to be better. Thanks again.

I am having the EXACT same problems. BUT...now, my phone's screen is completely dark, the soft buttons on the bottom are lit but do not work. Oh...and it continuously restarts itself...all by itself. My phone was FINE before this HTC update last weekend. Going to Verizon after lunch. :( SO bummed!

Have you done a battery pull (take the battery out while the phone is on)?

Verizon will try to factory reset the phone by holding down the volume down button while turning on the phone. I forget what you have to choose to get to factory reset.

There is a menu option for factory reset. Go to settings... SD card and storage... factory reset will be at the bottom. Just be aware that anything stored on internal memory by the user will be wiped, essentially putting your phone back in "out of the box" state. So back up anything you want to save (like texts) on your computer. You will also have to reinstall your downloaded apps.
