Laughable Bit About iOS5

A copy is a copy. This is what i don't get. If this was done by samsung, everyone would take a shot at them. Now since this is apple, lets give that a pass. It's a straight rip off

Lets turn it a bit and I'll ask this: can you state, without any possible doubt, that the devs that created Android were not, in any way, influenced by someone else? Is Android absolutely new, offering features never, ever seen before?

Face facts . . everything starts somewhere else, and there is no doubt that many Android developers get ideas from other places. This issue is not the crime of the century; it is normal and been there done that.

We (palm) manufactured devices that provided web access from portable devices along with email before the iPhone arrived so Apple "Stole" from us. Perhaps we stole from Newton and Newton came from the HP Palmtops or CE Devices which came from other places?

Silly to argue about and debate and worry and fret so. My crap works and next year, it will be faster and more powerful and cost me less.

bnice pretty much summed it up from everybody. Did I ever say Android was 100% an original creation? Absolutely not. Everything is a copy of something else. It's Apple who is pointing fingers here, not everyone else.

That's what we take issue with.

I missed it. Exactly where did Android still the notification pull down from?

From over there in the corner. They snuck in, disabled the alarm system, and stole it. It was sitting there by the potted plant next to the table with the top secret invasion plans.

Apple, Bell and Howell, Martha Stewart, NASCAR, and Boeing all steal, I mean copy this and that. Android or as we call it, iOS Lite, likely borrowed ideas from others that also borrowed ideas.

People should get over it. As we all know, Palm had it first.

Actually palm wasnt first ;)

first off ive been an iphone user for the last 3 years. That being said im sick of ios and the iphone and moving to the prime hopefully.

However this forum post is straight fanboyism. I downloaded the software in 15 minutes. Yes the software is large but all further updates will be ota (small updates). So not sure what exactly you are up in arms about.

The Apple faithful (i.e FANBOI's) will proclaim the slow d/l speed a feature, ditch their high speed connections and go back to dial up. Apple will apply for and get the patent on super slow downloads and proceed to suit all Android phone manufactures whenever their internet connections fall below 10mb/s. An Austrian court will ban sales of Samsung devices because of their slow connection theft.

OK, I thought you were going a different direction with that a simply talking smart phones.

Well that just goes back to what was mentioned earlier, EVERYTHING is a copy of something else generally, and just built on the work of others. That's how everything in life works, music, art, technology, etc. :)

What I find laughable is the folks with an iphone 4 who went out and bought the iphone 4s. Lets be honest now, you looking at the same exact phone. They could have just update the os.

Fortunately, that isn't MY iPhone, computer, or internet. I just came across this on FB.

EDIT: Two more friends have posted complaining about 6 and 9hr DL times on iOS5. Either you have incredible internet (fiber optics?) or the servers are bombarded. Maybe they're using a limited college network?

Not sure if the file type makes a difference, but I can DL a 1.5 or so Gig movie on my iPad in no time at all. Actually, no time would suggest instant DL; the point, regardless, is no file that large takes me that long to DL.

I downloaded the new Adobe graphic suite a few weeks ago and it took less than a few hours.

are we really debating download times now? there are so many variables that can affect download times. can we move on?

I can say that despite appearances, the 4S is a significant upgrade to the 4. More so than the 3Gs was compared to the 3G, and plenty of people made that upgrade hop as well.

Yes, dual core and camera have already been mentioned, but IMO, those are significant upgrades for the iPhone line. The camera is actually very nice and performs better than any Android phone I've seen. The phone external speaker is very, very loud and clear, with a surprisingly rich spectrum. Call quality is excellent (Sprint model). They appeared to have fixed their GPS issues that's plagued them since the beginning. If you're a Siri fan, it's only available on the 4s.

There's actually not much to laugh at with this new iPhone. It's a very solid product, and it's going to do really well.
