Help Launcher keeps crashing!!

So Ive had a nexus since it was released and its been giving me some issues like the battery icon showing that its charging when its not but i can live with that.

What i can't live with is that every time i open my launcher to where all my apps are and scroll to widgets the launcher closes and a pop up appears stating that the launcher has stopped.

I have three anti-virus apps(Avast, Dr. Web and Norton) and none of them are showing any threats and i also deleted all my recently downloaded apps but nothing has worked.

Also i just bought a mac and I've never plugged the nexus into a computer until today using the supplied usb cable but nothing popped up, i was wondering if there is an app i must download to transfer files and back up my phone to see if that'll fix the problem.

Using a Mac requires a download of http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ in order to be able to view the SD card.

Are you using a 3rd party launcher?

no I wasn't put I finally plugged my phone into my computer and just transferred some photos(which has nothing to do with the launcher) and now its working fine...thx for your suggestions though much appreciated

I believe I have seen some posts of people who had damaged/defective charging ports that were causing the battery to short and think it was charging. It possible you've got something similar.
