Help Launcher Pro default problems

The Atrix is my first android phone so I'm learning as I go. I installed launcher pro on my phone just to see what the difference was. The problem I'm having is right after the Install, when I press the home button it directly switches to launcher pro and doesn't ask to "set it as default" and if I want to go back to blur i have to hold the home button down. I installed version 1.83 then tried 1.82 with the same thing. If anyone can tell me how to make it my default launcher it would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.s- Does disabling MotoBlur make that big of a difference on speed/battery life?

As always: Settings>Applications>ManageApplications>Downloaded Applications> Launcher Pro> Clear defaults.
 
Didn't even know you had to set it to default. I installed it and there it was, took right over from blur. As far as I knew, the only way to NOT use it after install is to uninstall. All the launchers I've used have behaved this way, including LP, ADW Launcher, Xeam, and now currently using GoLauncher. If holding down the 'home' button gets you back to Blur, that's something I've never seen before.

Hi you should download an app called "Home switcher for froyo" in the market. That way you can bounce back and forth on how you want your homescreen to look. If you want to switch back to Motoblur , just click on the app an you can set whichever homescreen as your default, launcher pro or motoblur or whatever other homescreen you have.
 
I'm new to the LP ... so maybe a ridiculous question but... should you use/run both on the phone? Like what I mean is, can they potentially conflict or use more battery assuming blur is somewhere on the phone. Or is it best to completely remove blur? I'm going to try LP before removing anything but, from what I've read and pics I've seen it looks like I'll really like it and customization ability. I'm just working on where to start before completely fubaring my phone :)

I've got most things on my phone now, complete total thing its lacking is organization.
 
Good questions being presented, have some of the same, so far my search results have produced quite a few quick reply "oh just do XYZ" responses without the full story and a smaller handful provide the pros/cons of doing XYZ, etc. Remaining hopeful though and still searching :cool:.
