Help Launcher Pro suddenly blowing up after 2.2 update

Yesterday I noticed my extended battery was barely able to charge and Launcher Pro was quitting/restarting about every 3 hours. Went into the Market and ACK, it was stuck on "uploading" an update of LP.

I tried quitting the download; no luck. Tried a few other tricks including powering down & restarting; deleting the app; powering down overnight; battery pull.

Nothing I did stopped the crazed downloading.

Verizon had a couple of ideas I'd already tried, so they couldn't help. They recommended a hard reset using the instructions on the VZW web. But I installed 2.2 myself using the RUU and True's instructions that I saw here, and that had worked well. So synced and did the RUU install again. Took about 15 minutes to reinstall and another 30 to configure and install my stuff.

Now I'm back up. I miss my Launcher Pro, but I notice it's not on the Market anymore. And going to the LP Web site, it looks like the developer is rewriting it from scratch...so I think I'll forgo loading it until I hear more.

Had my first major issue with Launcher Pro this afternoon and only issue I've had since the 2.2 update. I was on the phone and attempted to view text messages via Chomp SMS to reference a text sent earlier this morning and I couldn't. Every time I tried to open Chomp via Launcher Pro dock it would send me back to the current call screen. I hung up and Launcher Pro was in an infinite loop of force closes and I couldn't get anywhere. It would restart and force close over and over again. (Many) Soft resets? Nope they didn't work. Battery Pull? Nope!

My Solution:
Hit the "Search" hardkey on the X and Google search (hopefully) opens. Searched for "Settings" and voila, headed to Apps and uninstalled Launcher Pro. I reinstalled and everything seems normal again. I'll likely factory reset and start over but I'm just happy I was able to get back in my phone to run a backup since I haven't in about a week.

Hope this helps someone in the future!

Make sure you have everything removed from your stock home screens, so that the additional widgets and shortcuts aren't running in the background.
