Launcher Pro Thread (Captivate)

does anyone know how to use a full resolution wallpaper instead of having to crop the picture? every time i crop, the image quality goes down.

There are already threads about that. This is about Launcher Pro.

In short, your answer is no, unless you use 960 x 800 wallpapers.

Infinite-T: For some reason, I can't find HomeSwitcher by name search, either.
I ended up finding it by the developer. Go into the market, search for Ymst

Baldilocks: Tks for the heads-up on that clock widget - that is SWEET!

here is the QR code for home switcher.

i think i know what you are asking. in order for the custom wallpaper to look higher res. when you are selecting the wallpaper and you get the crop box, just hold the edges of the box and it allows you to increase the size of the box to select a bigger portion of the image so when you set it as the wallpaper it looks way better and not blurry and ugly.

Awesome! Just installed Home Switcher and Launcher Pro. Not sure what I like better (vs. the native Home Screen). If you hold the Home button it opens a few options too and you can quickly switch to a different home manager.

Loving the level of customization available!

I wasn't thrilled about the Samsung UI, but when I saw how easily LauncherPro can go on the Captivate, and how powerful of a program launcher it is, I became much more excited about the Captivate and Android

I've been using LauncherPro until today when I decided to check out ADW.Launcher (mainly because someone mentioned it might be less cpu-intensive / use less battery) and I actually like ADW.Launcher better <_< If only just because the homescreen scrolling is a bit more responsive. I also like TouchWiz/iOS's horizontal app drawer better. I miss LauncherPro's dock though -- the three scrollable docks were great and ADW.Launcher's "dockbar" is kind of annoying. I wish I could have ADW.Launcher's homescreens and app drawer with LauncherPro's dock.

hopefully they add the ability to rearrange homescreens without having to move each widget and icon individually like you can with touchwiz

I just installed LauncherPro and I find that TW is much quicker, in terms of opening new apps and windows. Its too bad because I liked the LP dock.

Launcher Pro lets you adjust speed settings. Default speed settings are at 5. Setting them to 10 will make them Instant. Really doesn't get much better than LauncherPro.

I changed both opening speed settings to 10 but I still find that when I click on an app such as the browser or mail, there is a much longer delay than in TW. The same thing after pressing the home button.

I don't think you need the non market application fix but you do need root i believe
I haven't rooted my captivate and dl both launchpro and home switcher. search in the market for launch pro and home switcher. They are great. and this is coming from an android newb!;)

I know I could look again but does anyone have a link to the captivate root process that is done by someone a bit more....how do you say more intelligent that doesnt make mistakes and expect us to go around them? And if you root can you restore everything if need be? Like what is this ClockworkMod Recovery Image thing all about? does this save everything on your phone in case of bad mojo?????

Appear the same for me. (shrug) Also, LaucherPro seems to have more of the options I want, like shutting off my scrolling wallpaper, etc..

I'm curious about the various memory and cache settings available in LauncherPro and how they impact battery life. While I understand storing in memory and caching at max will improve responsiveness, is this directly proportional to battery drain?
