think of adw ex as a completely different launcher than adw...you ll want to uninstall old adw if you choose to purchase adw ex
 
I have used LP, ADW, and Zeam and they all have good qualities about them. I am currently stuck between Zeam and ADW. I love the customization of ADW, but I also ready like the functionality of the bar at the bottom(sorry, forgot name) with Zeam. The ability to scroll through just a few of my main links without changing the page I am on is a really nice function that I don't get on ADW, but I love everything else about ADW though and miss the customization that I don't get on Zeam. Oh, decisions, decisions, decisions.. Probably going back to ADW, but for now I am enjoying the quick reference ability with Zeam...

With ADW EX you can add a second dock ( the bar at the bottom of the page) and that second one is scrollable.....I set mine to the upward swipe motion (open/close dockbar) I also liked this about Zeam and once I figured this out about ADW EX I switched ....

I can't seem to figure out how to unistall ADW since I didn't dl it from the market (it was built into the rom). Can I do it from Root explorer or something?

root explorer to delete/rename in system/app...or titanium backup to delete/freeze

Really? I just bought it and, honestly, I'm not as impressed as I am with Launcher Pro +.

No widgets, not as many options as LPP, but definitely faster (not by much) and uses far less RAM.

What do you like about ADW.Ex ?

im a big lpp supporter, but even with setting changed, its a lot slower imo than adw...and adw has now adopted a lot of the customizations of lpp (or similar ones at least)

and fwiw the transitions are pretty neat

2nd dock? Please share how I would go about setting that up...
 
Oh my!.. ADW EX is definitely my favorite launcher now by far... I only have it had it installed for 10 minutes and it is going to be tough to beat!!

You can drag icons into the one that can be hidden to make a quick link to those programs you deem important...

I attatched the "hidden dock" open/close to the swipe up on the screen action...and that made it so I could open/ close the "hidden dock" because it was giving me a hard time too....since I did this it works great.
 
I'm really like Go Launcher. Light weight, MIUI-style homescreen manipulation. Really sweet.

ADW.Ex has some nice customizations but there are just too many.

LP+ is awesome BUT it should be an example of what NOT to do to a launcher: add too many customizations.

I love the LP+ widgets but it's a memory hog. I don't know if that's what the "rewrite"--that Fede (LP+ dev) keeps mentioning in his blog--is supposed to address.
 
The rewrite is supposed to be a complete ground up write of LauncherPro since the current I guess is based on android 2.0, where the new one is supposed to be based on the android 2.2 code which should be more optimized. He said it would allow for more features, the widgets, etc all using less overall memory and running smoother.
 
I mean, really, dev support is critical in my opinion.

ADW and LP are the top dogs in that category.

Maybe, but customization is kind of the whole point behind changing the launcher. I feel that the more customization available, the better the launcher. That way you can make it exactly what you want... But, then again, to each his own...
 
How do you make it so Touch Wiz isnt running in the background? I had Launcher pro and my phone felt like it was freezing alot probably because of the Touch Wiz still running but i dont know how to shut it off.

you have to be rooted, and replace it with another launcher in system/app
 
I tried ADW EX for a couple days and ended up going back to LauncherPro. Just seems quicker to me.
