LauncherPro vs. GO launcher EX

IMO the new themes on Go Launcher EX are AWESOME! I especially like the Ink theme. Hopefully more will come out so I can keep switching it up!

Only thing I really want are a more diverse amount of dock icons. I can't find any free quality ones in the market. If someone knows of any, let me know!

I've stuck with Go Launcher since I first tried it. I was on LPP. But Go Launcher seems to be much more stable. I was getting FCs and random slowness with LPP that I don't have with Go Launcher.

With Go launcher I also have icons appear immediately in the app draw. With LPP, it took a long time to load the icons every time you opened the draw. That was really annoying.

I did like the LPP widgets, but it wasn't worth dealing with all the negative aspects of the program. I still hold out hope for the complete rewrite when it is released. LPP certainly needs to be rewritten from the ground up. Hopefully it will be as good as Go Launcher when it is done. I might switch back if that is true.

In the mean time, I really like Go launcher. I'm patiently waiting for the bug fix, but even that is less annoying than the issues I had with LPP.

Are any of you using Tasker and do you change your wallpapers with Tasker? Also, are any of you using Widget Locker?

I think Tasker and GO Launcher and Widget Locker (possibly the specific combination of all three)...made GO Launcher unstable...

1) My homescreen went blank TWICE...First time just the widgets got deleted, but my 6 home pages remained...2nd time all the widgets got deleted AND my homescreen of 6 magically became only 1

2) Widget Locker widgets also disappeared when the above happened.

3) I got a call, and I could clearly see the Accept / Reject sliders BUT I couldn't slide either and the phone froze

4) I have autoprofiles set up in Tasker, where volume, lock, and wallpaper change automatically depending on my location or device contexts.

So, I'm thinking my way of using my phone made GO Launcher choke...

Anyone else have the same 4 combos? Or similar combos? Have you had any issues like I've had?

I would love to give GO Launcher another shot, but not being able to answer the few calls I get is not acceptable.

BTW, all my probs went away after uninstalling GO Launcher.

I use all three programs, but don't change my wallpaper. I haven't seen the issues you are seeing.

i hav go launcher but sms notification doesnt appear on my dock bar as it did with LPP....this is very annoying for me...wish they would correct tht

hi all
i've been totally using go launcher for ages now and love
it.just switched to ex and noticed 2 issues.
1.home button takes 2 presses to find the center home
screen.
2.it didn't restore my app draw settings from GL

cheers
Dan

1. They know and should be a fix soon

2. Don't know what happened. Backup on old restore on new got me all but my widgets back where I had them.

So I finally downloaded launcher switcher and go launcher ex. After playing with it for a bit I still feel I like LP better. Though I do like how the app menu is set up with go launcher, I feel that the overall experience with lo is better and it seems to flow smoother. But what about adw? What are some of you rexperiences with it? I really wanna find one hone launcher and stick with it so I can get rid of launcher switcher. I don't like when I hit the home button that it asks me which launcher to use and if I set a default one and am using the other one it'll load the launcher I don't want at the moment

Go Launcher is nice but I can't quit LP. The dock features and now the transition effects put it over the top. Go probably runs a tiny bit smoother but I don't like the way it sizes custom icons/backgrounds for the dock.

Has anyone run into this happeneing, not sure if it's a bug or just my phone. Preface with what I have-Samsung Vibrant with Android 2.1.
I've been using Go Launcher for about 3 weeks, everything works fine. Today I updated to 2.2 using mini Kies (samsung updating software).

Everything is fine, so I reloaded Go Launcher, seems to be working fine. I turn the phone off and later when I turn it back on, some of my screens are messed up, like widgets overlayed on other ones and widgets moved to different screens. I thought weird, so I fixed my screens thought I'd try powering off and on again to see if it happened again. It happens again! Messed up screens-but only the widgets get screwed up.

Happen to anyone else?

Same happened to me too. It makes me angry. If a fix doesn't come, I'll have to change although I loved very much. Especially app drawer...

Now I don't use widgets. But that won't last much.

curiogeo,
I haven't seen anything like that at all with Go Launcher. If I were you, I'd jot down what is on each screen (well, what is supposed to be), uninstall/reboot/reinstall/reconfigure Go Launcher.

Well, then you are lucky :) I tried what you said before, I even changed my rom (2.2.1 jpy stock to 9.1 darky), problem didn't go away. That is clearly a bug, which only some people get occasionally. I hope they fix it...
Are there any others who experience the same issue?

What did GO say when you reported it to them?

I am going to send a message to Go Launcher's developer, maybe it's the widgets that are causing the problem. I use simi clock, widgetsoid, google voice, and one of samsung's called picture frame-it displays a picture on your screen. I think that may be the culprit (or the simiclock) because I noticed the picture had completely replaced the simiclock widget once when I restarted my phone.

Also, as an experiment-I uninstalled Go Launcher and went back to ADW Launcher, and the problem went away. My screens came back normally after a phone power off then on again. It may be a combination of GoLauncher and the widgets I use.

Yes, the widgets could be the problem. Have you tried saving/restoring GO's configuration? Set up a good configuration, then save it, then when you see the trouble try restoring the configuration. Just curious to see what happens.

I'm sure Go will be interested in hearing about this.

And about widgets, I don't use the widgets which he uses. So this shouldn't be the widgets.
But someone in this topic said it might be tasker. I have it installed, but no profiles at the moment. Actually, it isn't active now.

I'm seeing the same issues with the stacking widgets and dock. It happens most frequently when I dock or undock my phone. The dock doesn't appear where it should, but rather at the non-dock location and therefore covers up the icons. If I reboot while it is docked, then the dock bar is in the correct location until I undock it. Then it stays in the short side of the screen when undocked and covers up the widgets again.

Basically there is a bug with the screen rotation settings and where the dock bar is suppose to be. It seems to rear its head most often when rotating and docking/undocking the phone. At least that is what I see.

I updated Go Launcher and it became slower. I wound up getting ADW Ex...lol

Maybe I need to update it again...

There are so many right now I was overwhelmed. Between Launcherpro, Go, Zeam, and ADW alone there's too many options. Depending on who you talk to and where you look each one has its advantages. I've gone with LPP, I really like the pop-up number of email, message, and call indications. For my G2 it seems faster than stock Froyo. I put the others on my phone too but didn't give them much time since LPP does what I want and doesn't do anything I don't want. Some say don't get it because its a pay app, but for $3? I think if you have an android phone you can afford three bucks. In the end it really comes down to try em and decide yourself, unfortunately you'll never find the answer otherwise.

after having used launcher pro for many months, I stumbled on go launcher ex this week, and love the overall feel and style of it. Things feel a bit more responsive, and I love the horizontal app drawer.

however, I've noticed a considerable decrease in battery life since I've installed Go Launcher EX. I'm not sure if it's because I'm playing with the phone more, but it seems to drain more even when idle. I also installed beautiful widgets recently, so I'm not sure what's causing the increased battery drain all of a sudden.

I saw a few reviews where people said GO was draining their battery faster. Anyone else notice this?
