Launchers?

I've got a couple questions regarding launchers. First off, how many are there? I know of ADW and Launcher Pro. Am i missing any? Also, what is the stock launcher called? Is it launcher 2? Just curious as i like the stock launcher and would like to know before i download a rom what the stock launcher is called. Thanx guys as always.

Quite a few, although these are the most popular ones.

The stock launcher is called launcher. The reason for the distinction is that 2.0.x came with a non-3D launcher, whereas 2.1 introduced the 3D launcher.

So what is launcher2?

That was the designation given to the 3D launcher, as I mentioned in my previous post, to distinguish it from the non-3D launcher.

Ahhh, duhh. My bad. So Launcher2, ADW, and LauncherPro are the main dawgs here? And I'm assuming i prob won't see just plain Launcher anymore.

Pretty much, with L2 being the stock, so it's not really a 'player' here so much as the stock launcher versus the other two being true alternate launchers.

Do the alternate launchers have any affect on battery life?

Depends upon your usage of them. If you are continuously using them and use the 3D mode, it'll use more battery, but if not, it will use less battery....

Also, depends if you force them to stay in memory, allow caching, etc....

There are too many variables involved to say "yes" or "no".

I always disable the 3D tray, don't like it. How do i check to see if its caching?

Those variables I mentioned are the ones that exist in the alternate launchers, not in the stock launcher, As I said, the stock launcher is not very configurable at all....
