Launchers

I have just recently been experimenting with TSF Shell. It is different, to say the least, but the jury is still out. Methods are not always obvious for configuration and sometimes quite elusive, but I'm liking what it does. Lots of eye candy.

I played with TSF Shell a lot back when it first launched. I like a lot of the features and pretty effects, but I could never get a set-up that was quick/simple AND looked great. I also got a bit discouraged that the app I paid ~$15 for hasn't been updated in almost a year. :(

I dare you to try Nova launcher...
Yeah I tried it didn't like it. I've tried several launchers but always end right back to ssLauncher its my go to so I quit going and just stick with it anymore. But thats why there are so many launchers out there to begin with cause we all have different likes and taste.

ssLauncher is a new one to me, but it looks pretty nice. I just push-installed it to my N4 so I'll play with it some after work. :)

its a bit tricky to learn to be honest. but its so easy to use and so convenient to me anyways. I hope you like it :) I've been using it for the past three years and just can't seem to find anything that I like better. If you need any help with it just let me know always glad to be of help :))

After about my 6th launcher, I was ready to launch my phone out the window. ;) That's why I stick with the devil I know (Apex) and let the fiddling to the younger crowd. Is it nap time yet?
That's how I feel about Nova. I always come back to it.

What's a simple one? Paid or not paid, I don't care. I'm using ADW (paid), I mostly want to get that stupid Search Icon off the pages. It hides parts of my pictures. I don't use made wallpaper, I use my photos. I happen to be using Ubuntu Icons with ADW.
I also need folders. I don't use widgets. I'd also like to make the default page the one with just a picture and a clock, and have that open as a default when I use the phone and go back to it after I'm done with the pages with the apps. If a plain old flip phone can have a default screen, than a fairly sophisticated smart phone should be able to duplicate that.
(The Vulcan has a flip)

Since ADW seems to be abandoned now, it might be time to look for another launcher.

I don't need or want fancy animated wallpaper and themes. I do my own. I'm looking through Appbrain to find one. I like the layout over there better. I only look on the computer anyway. Easier to read than phone screen.

Over the course of four years and about ten droids, the first thing I always try is the latest launchers, trying to modernize my digital life. But I always end up switching back to the first the first third-party launcher I ever had – the now defunct, but still available LauncherPro. Everything else, to me, is like putting earrings on a pig.

At the risk of sounding spammy (I swear I'm not on Chris Lacy's payroll!), the new version of Action Launcher was just published. Among other improvements and enhancements over AL's existing featureset, AL3 includes a magic themer thing that uses the Lollipop color extraction API to automatically match homescreen elements (search bar, folder backgrounds, etc) to prominent colors from the wallpaper. Pretty shnazzy if you ask me.

I'm excited! Now only if I could get it to show up in google play. Or get the website to show my phone.

I think the link just went live, so it may take ~2 hours or so for it to be accessible for everyone. It should be at the same link as the older free version of Action Launcher, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.actionlauncher.playstore :thumbsupdroid:

BTW, Android Police has a pretty good hands-on with the launcher here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...m-chris-lacy-makes-your-home-screen-material/

I'm re-trying Smart Launcher 2 Pro. It's different. Very fast and easy on the RAM.

I haven't used a launcher in a couple of years. Launcher Pro was my go to back then. I preferred it over Go (though it was a close second), and I didn't like Apex at all back then. Anyway, I've got an S5 now and just installed Smart Launcher 2. I like it a lot, but I really don't like the way it bundles my apps, and I don't like that I can't re-position my home screen icons. I use a photo for my wallpaper, and I'd like to be able to unblock faces. lol

Anyway, was wondering if the Pro version addresses those couple of issues I have with Smart Launcher?

And. One of the biggest things I liked about Launcher Pro was the dock tray. And of course setting up my home screens with however may rows and columns I want. Basically, I want to make the most use of the screen space. That's the biggest reason I want a launcher on this phone. The stock launcher wastes a lot of screen space!

Recently I am using zero launcher and it's promising. I like it. Look is very beautiful and soft on memory. Give it a try.

I used adw for a long time, then the developer abandoned it. I have used Nova Prime for a long time. It is fast, light and easy to set up. You can do all the things you want with it.
