Leadboltads... HELP!

PrinceCorwin

every couple of minutes regardless of whether I am surfing the web, using an app, or just scrolling through my phone, this pops up on my phone. I've googled the issue in tried a couple of the things mentioned but nothing helps. I used an antivirus, an ad blocker, and several other anti ad apps but nothing happens . Any suggestions?

looks like maybe its caused by one of those apps that give you adware try installing an app like appbrain or a similar app that will tell you which apps you have that have adware in them and uninstall whatever apps are causing issue

I tried appbrain with no results

No root. I installed the Amazon app store directly before this started. I downloaded 5 apps that gave me a thousand free coins but have since uninstalled all 5 apps. I still have the Amazon app store. Do you think that might be doing it

i wouldnt think so being its an official app meaning that usually its the off beaten apps that cause adware, but hey maybe it does only way to find out is to uninstall...try clearing cache in amazon app . for the app go to settings/apps find amazon clear cache

Ran across this posting referring to your same problem:
[Q] Help Leadboltads virus on Galaxy S4 - xda-developers

Third one down suggested this:
"What actually fixed the problem was resetting the defaults for all the apps. Settings > More > Application Manager. Hit the menu key and choose Reset app preferences.
You don't loose any data. You just get prompted for choosing a default app when you run certain applications.
Haven't had the issue since. Hope this helps."

Good luck.

I did this and it is only a semi fix. I don't get the full popup anymore, but it is still trying to. Instead I get the popup asking which program I want to use to open it and I simply touch the back button and no leadboltads load up. I would sure like to know a solution that will completely get this virus off my phone. I've tried the antivirus and antimalware software like everyone above me has. Maybe I'll just have to factory reset

hey before you factory rest do the following transfer your pics music to pc and go to stock phone app in its settings backupup contacts by choosing export vcf or vfc forget which at moment then transfer to pc as well...also look into helium app to backup other apps to sd and transfer to pc,thenfactory reset phone, never used helium but would assume you have to reinstall after factory reset to reinstall whatever it backed up

Thanks for the advice. I always have all my stuff backed up. The only headache I really get from factory resetting is re downloading all the apps.
