Help Leaving the US...Need help

Could someone please help me or point me to the right thread?

I'll be outside the US in a couple of weeks. I need to shut off the phone roaming but keep the WIFI operational. I'll be in a few places that have WIFI so that I can send and receive E-mails, but I don't want the exorbitant roaming charges.

Any help is appreciated.

from the phone screen,

menu/settings/wireless and networks

uncheck:

4G
Mobile network

those are the sprint and carrier antennas.

thats all you need to do. there are no huge steps involved with preventing the phone form calling out to the sprint/carrier networks..

Thanks for the quick answer. I read a post about someone getting a $10,000 Sprint bill after getting back from Mexico. YIKES:eek: I want to make sure that I can use the web and NOT the phone.

I am going on a cruise next week that will have stops in Mexico, Belize, Roatan. A few places will have wi-fi available. I thought I just put my phone in airplane mode to stop it from roaming and then turn on the wi-fi when I go somewhere that has it??? is this wrong? Don't want any ridiculous bills when I get home!!
thanks!!

You can contact Sprint and add International services, they charge by the month and it is prorated so you can activate it the day you leave and turn it off when you you get back. We were in Playa Del Carmen for 8 days and my friends used their EVO just like at home (call, text, data) and their bill was only around $30.00 more.
