led alert light not lasting long

My led green alert light that flashes if I have a message only stays lit for about 5mins is there a setting that can make it stay flashing untell I actualy see the message?

This is the biggest annoyance to me about this phone. There is an app called Missed Reminder that will allow you to extend the notifications as long as you want. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the default mail client. If you only use gmail it could be your answer.

If this was HTC's answer to battery saving I wish they would allow us the option to override the setting. It makes no sense to turn off the notification light after 5 minutes but keep something like the low battery light blinking indefinitely until the phone shuts off.
