I noticed that the LED would blink for awhile when I got messages and then stopped blinking. Can I adjust the settings so that it will blink continuously until I open the messages? If yes, please let me know how. Thanks.

No, its set up that way for battery power reasons. I think when you unlock your phone the indicator stops blinking. I don't pay attention to the minor details.
