LED Notification Light

I have my LED notification light set to off in the preferences - but no matter what it still blinks for incoming gmail (using the gmail app - I HATE the HTC mail app)...there is no option in gmail app to turn this off - but shouldn't it be turned off because of the main settings? Any help or an app workaround to fix this?

Only way to do this is to uncheck notifications in the Gmail settings. Downside is that you won't be notified when you get an email :\
