left att to get an evo, now going back?

as much as the iphone does appeal to me because i am an apple person and the design is slick. i do not miss the restrictions that the iphone created. no room for personalization or creativity and no room for 3rd party apps. there are so many things i love about my evo, the only thing i cant stand is the horrible reception problems im having. at the end of the day its just frustrating to be paying so much a month and not getting my moneys worth.

I understand, I only get about 3 bars in my house, but it still works fine. Sprint has affordable rates. Your bill has to be cheaper with Sprint over AT&T. What plan are you on? that's probably where your going wrong.

It's sounds like one of those unique situations. It's obvious that where you live there is a structural and/or a signal penetration issue.

On the average, how many bars can you consistently maintain in your home?

I ask because as I described before you should be fine even with a fairly weak signal but then again every area is different and that probably depends on the number of Sprint users in your city. I can only speak for my area and experiences but unless you are constantly roaming, I wouldn't expect you to experience the issues you do, worst case maybe with 0 or 1 bars.

If you get more than that, I suspect it's the people you are conversing with that may have the bad cellular coverage, it doesn't always have to be from your end alone. Otherwise, provided that they did actually try to call or text you and it did not at least go directly to voicemail where they left you a message or you then got the text but instead at a much later time (but sure that it was sent successfully on their end), then I would suspect you are dealing with some flakey individuals. I only say this because we have all had that experience of " I tried to call" or "I send you a text" and then both parties blame it on one or both of the networks when then is not really the truth.

Not saying that is the case but consider everything. Your are potentially dealing with an issue and you want to know just what it is for sure, not to mention there is a possible financial commitment of breaking contract and then signing elsewhere.

as i read your posts right now i am sitting in my house with one bar and trying to access the internet but with no 3g lighting up, so it is very very slow. and ive tried to send out multiple texts all of which have had to be resent because they could not send out the first time

Is your problem voice or data or both? Is this just at your house or all over your town and work locations?

Do you have a broadband internet connection? If so, why not just use wifi for data and Skype (or whatever for voice).

You can set up conditional call forwarding to forward a call to Skype or Voice but you need to check the cost for forwarded calls as some Sprint plans charge for call forwarding.

If you are getting some signal you could buy a signal amplifier and parabolic antenna. They make some now that interface wirelessly with one of more cellphones.

I just called Sprint because I am having reception issues in my house with the EVO. I get 1-2 bars inside and 3-4 outside. Sprint decided to send me the Airave with no costs to me (no one time activation OR monthly fee), I get the Airave totally FREE:) I love Sprint. I have been with them 12 years and customer service has never been better.

Thats awesome, Man. Ive heard of several people in your shoes get free Airave's with no service fee. Seems like its not uncommon. Cannot beat that customer service! Not sure why the one or two on here are having a problem... makes me think.... humm?

AMG, it seems the issue is structural interferance as long as when you go outside the signal is significantly improved and it appears to really only be an issue at your residence, for the most part anyway.

Considering that, your best bet is to call Sprint again, tell them politely and rationally the issues you are experiencing and that something may need to be done or you have no choice but to cancel and go back to your former provider (no names), which you already know works well in your home because the issues are affecting your work, job or business, first and foremost. Otherwise the device is great and the customer service has been excellent SO FAR but the coverage specifically in your home is the only real issue.

Inquire if anything can be done if they didn't already suggest something and they will likey mention the airrave but if they insist you have to pay for it and it's service tell them that only defeats the purpose, as any money spent on that could simply be used to get out of their service and into something else, AGAIN, that you already know works better in your home and you have no issues with. After being told or asking about the cost, tell them the airrave would cost $100 up front and another $110 or $115 in monthly charges for the remainder of two years and it would be cheaper to sell the phone and leave, not that you necessarily want to.

Sprint was very kind and professional. I ended up speaking with 3 different individuals and the 3rd tech person brought up the Airave (I did not request it at all) and said he would have it sent and I should get it in 7-14 days and that they had some in stock. The call took a total of 15 minutes. Very fast and efficient.

BTW - Thanks:) They have awesome customer service. Dan Hesse has definitely turned that portion of the company around 180 degrees.

im located in miami, fl. i dont believe its a hardware issue because i have been with two friends with sprint in many of these places where i lack signal and they too have the same problems. my roaming is on, i will be able to make a call but itll drop or texts wont get sent out. and all i keep hearing lately is " i tried to call you a few times but it kept going to voicemail" and im not receiving all of my texts.

It has to be a hardware issue. I live in Hallandale and work in downtown Miami and I can think of only two spots I get drop calls, 163rd on 95 and South Miami Ave going to City Hall. I have had Sprint service in the 6 years I have been living here and never a problem with their service. AT&T has a very good service in Miami but I have not heard anyone in Miami with a problem on Sprint.
