Root Let's Get CM Onto Avant!

And one thing, I can install the slim rom over my existing stock, which keeps settings, apps, media, etc. But for the CM it says that it cant write. So everytime, I have to format then install. Does that have anything to do with it?

It compiled last night but i gues i've added some proprietary files that wont allow it to boot like my 3rd build it actually boots but it stays on the galaxy avant and even tho i cant pull a logcat i know its booting because adb shows it as offline

Dmesg is what you want to run if at all possible.

Cm uses different partition layouts then touch wiz. Which is why you need to wipe to install cm.

The slim rom has the trebuchet launcher.

EDIT:
Nvm just found out that you can get it for stock.
Most if not all cm apps you can get off of XDA if your willing to search for them, or you could always download a ROM for a different phone and extract the apk files you want from that zip, hell you could do that with the cm11 we have for the avant. I did it with the aosp keyboard.

Looking forward to a working ROM. In the meantime, I will attest that turning off as many things as possible with the stock ROM makes a big difference. I'm looking at an additional 150-200 MB free after disabling chaton, flipboard, a bunch of the Samsung apps, etc. Makes for a much speedier, more responsive phone experience. :)

I think I reproduced the same result cause I restored to stock yesterday morning and when I got home I flashed cn11 and it wasn't booting staying stuck on cyanogenmod bootanimation. I had to wipe /system partition clean with adb within recovery. Try this
1. Boot into recovery
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Adb shell
4. Type " mount /system"
5. "cd /system"
6. "rm -rf *"
7. Then flash cm11
Those steps should fix your problem.
Stupid me. In TWRP i was selecting adb sideload, then trying to run adb shell. I have it now, and am running really soon. I'll be back with results.

EDIT: Even after running the commands in jo3plr86's post, cyanogenmod refuses to boot.

Nope. Nothing I try will get it to boot. I was looking on other forums and other people were reporting that it wouldn't boot because of the boot stack. If anyone has any ideas, please share for I am going crazy.

UPDATE:

Flashed Gapps just in case, after all the wiping/formatting, sideload, and i'm getting to Android is upgrading.

Okay guys, I can install, but the last problem is that it won't get past Android is Upgrading. I was looking online, and some people were reporting that some of the apps that were packaged were interfering when trying to start.

By removing some files you added is their anything that might not work in this build
hopefully this build will fix audio and camera b/c my first build touchscreen wasnt working properly and autorotation wasnt working audio and camera. 2nd build i fixed touchscreen and autorotation but not audio and camera. 3rd build i added way too many proprietary files which destroyed the display driver.
