Have you tried making it think it's not a permissive kernel? I'd say ask RaymonFX or milanche,,,

Tested on @beegee_tokyo's build. Works.

over at xda, he's a great dev on a lot of devices and figured out the camera after no one else could. Different device but could be similar to how the device works. , i could be blowing smoke but it may be worth checking out
 
So video playback and audio is working so whats on the list of things to get done

Let me get this straight (not working):
Camera, answering calls, NFC, Menu buttons, battery drain.
 
Not working:
Camera
NFC
Video playback
Answering calls
Menu button
Battery Drain not so sure it kinda fells the same as stock correct me if I'm wrong...
 
Ok thank you, I just wanted an update to see how things are going. Its weird to see it not be able to answer calls if it wasn't for that, lack of video playback and camera I would be using it as my daily driver right now. Good luck trying to fix it, I know you can do it and I appreciate the hard work and time that you are putting in for Avant users.

I'm a avant user myself so in terms of fixes its easier because I can test the builds myself before putting them out

Another thing is in performance, you can't change the i/o scheduler, nor is it possible to change the minimum cpu frequency.

Kernel Toolkit allows changing I/O scheduler and read ahead buffer on the stock ANK3 ROM. Haven't tried any of the other settings.

You can change it all you want, it won't actually do anything though. I've tried multiple different apps and all of them say they change but they don't, once you back out of the app and go back in its back to stock setting.

Maybe its the DFVS that touchwiz use
