Its a problem everyone is having. The phone cant play videos. It'll sometimes reboot from trying to play them.Till somebody finds a fix to it.

Damn, that sucks, Although a workaround for the youtube crashing is just straight up using the browser on the phone, Youtube works that way
Wow! Never really thought to try that- it made my day :D I now use a headset during calls so my face doesn't mess with the screen, the browser for youtube, and MX Player with SW decoder for all of my video files

Ah yeah lol, the first call I had on this ROM by the time I was done with the call, I was in some random menu of a game on my phone xD, any way to disable buttons working when talking on the phone?

So question; the normal manner of installing cm on a device is to flash a custom recovery, then use that to install this as an update.zip either via a file on the phone or sideload.... I've seen a lotta links to the cm.zip here but no recovery, what do we do?

Google is your friend, just look up "Galaxy Avant twrp" (I'm assuming you're already rooted) and find the thread on here. Download TWRP, preferably version 2.8.1 since 2.8.3 has a few annoying bugs, and then flash using odin.

Don't google anything for this phone unless its for accessories, you'll get a bunch of fake links sending you to download viruses, if your looking for something come in here and search for it. Here is your link to twrp. http://androidforums.com/index.php?threads/887861/

Interesting, is there no working clockworkmod recovery for this device yet? I've never used TWRP, and my device is currently stock :)
Also, is there any 'official' local manifest for this device so one can build it using the CM build system? I've already got the repo down, and I'm not the average noob begging for handouts, I just want a bit of useful info :)

If you prefer clockworkmod recovery we have that too. It, like twrp, has its own thread here in the galaxy avant all things root section.

Very nice indeed. Also, I should like to point out that the post I read regarding having to use odin to flash and not heimdall is incorrect; I just flashed TWRP with heimdall and all was well in the world, and got SuperSu installed just fine :)

Ah good to hear, as far as we knew heimdall hasn't been tested, so cudos to you my friend :D here's the link to cwm http://androidforums.com/index.php?threads/905645/ for the rest of the things you asked for I have no idea lol

On which os did u use heimdall??

Arch Linux, self-compiled with a patch to BridgeManager.cpp. Like I said, I'm not the average newbie begging for handouts :)

Hell I've flashed TWRP and CWM both using heimdall, flashed the latest build of cm here using CWM, and reverted to stock rooted all using heimdall. I only reverted because I can't seem to get on the metropcs apn inside cm, keeps saying T-Mobile on the bars tile in the swipe down menu
