You can most definitely flash over the old version. As long as you delete system, cache, and Dalvik cache before flashing the newest build and Gapps you should have no problems.

Most of the time you don't even have to do that... If its an update to the same ROM you can mostly get away with just flashing over it and rebooting.

You're right, but it's one of those things that come down to personal preference and I like playing it safe I guess lol
 
Thanks alot, I was terribly scared that I spent a week setting my lightning launcher set up and remaking all my zooper widgets

No problem, but if you're that worried about losing your app setup aren't you better off backing those up? Try helium or titanium backup.
 
about backups, nandroid is the best right? you get a complete image of your system and all other files? I'm trying to learn how to use it (nandroid manager and online nandroid) anybody got words of wisdom? If so I may hit you with a few questions.

One thing I have learned is that usually when Dm47021 goes silent it means he is hard at work fixing bugs . It is not unusual for him to dissapear for weeks and then show up with a new version with tons of bug fixes. Silence is good. As far as j03lpr86 and the others who have been working on this go, I have no idea. I'm confident that we will get an update once progress has been made.

Alright. I was just a little worried since things have been... Very quiet around here.
 
i think what he is trying to say is, if you had read the thread you would know that this is a work in process and that doesnt work and hasnt been fixed yet. just sayin

More like WiFi calling isn't even a feature of CM because it's very carrier specific and tmobile isn't even forking over what devs need to make mms work on third party sms apps. Nothing to do at all with the fact that this is a work in progress.

Are you saying that the stock original SMS app for this phone is the only one that will work for MMS? If I download a SMS app from Google play it won't work for MMS?

No that's not what I meant, I wasn't very clear sorry. What I meant to say is that if you are connected to WiFi and also have WiFi calling turned on, unless you're using the stock sms app you can't send mms.

Very true. This is the reason I stopped using hangouts for messaging.

Oh lol. You piqued my curiosity cause I had found an aosp MMS.apk that works on the avant or I thought it did until I tried sending a picture message. But I don't ever use WiFi calling cause the only time I ever have WiFi is if I'm at a fast food joint.
 
GUYs guess what I found out how to make porb work I was trying to watch porn on the latest cm build for the avant and it kept crashing so I downloaded MX player and I use the stream search I put the porn link and switched the decoder to S/W and BOOM it worked.PS.... It works for most videos not just porn

Moving on from that situation.....(lol)
I know this is really off topic and I should probably start another thread, but I just had a quick question. I've seen on a couple of sites that the Avant is supposedly scheduled to get a software update to Lollipop in Q2 this year, any thoughts?
