There is a way but basically when you request a key SE records IMEI ,I suppose HTC is similar with asking for encrypted "code"
With SE,Flash Stock ROM ,bootloader relocked .The sore point .When you unlock the bootloader with official, you lose DRM keys rendering Sony Specific apps un usable .That cant be restored ever.
Basically after an unlock ,your device becomes a generic device instead of a branded device
If you use "unofficial " method involving two MB points, you retain the DRM but you lose the warranty since the points are under the warranty sticker which should not be tampered with .
In any case H/W warranty is in hands of the local staff .If they are genrous and they can write off "in warranty " else they can't .Depends on situation ...

Hey there everyone...

I just posted a question last night....which a Mod moved to a seperate thread.....

Can any of you explain the different screen technologies ?

Honestly, I have no idea what an Amoled screen is or a Pentile, or another of the screen technologies.

Could yall please check out my thread and post a few answers.

Reading all of the threads about new phones I am really confused about the different screen technologies

Ask Early Mon he is most knowledgeable .In laymans terms AMOLED saves power ,brighter .Pentile matrix means for every two green pixels one red and one blue pixel is used .
SAMOLED is pentile .SAMOLED+ is not .

And this is a little old, and slightly vague but I think it may be helpful as well:

yes HTC will be best . SE will be good but there are hassles like lack of real recovery .
HTC,Motorola,SE lock bootloaders
Samsung ,LG,and others dont
Samsung uses cool partition layout which itself acts like a bootloader .i.e without Odin nothing is possible .
HTC,SE allow to unlock at price of warranty .
HTC and Motorola Encrypt Bootloaders

I believe if the issue is hardware, the warranty still applies (at least for HTC). If you screwed up stuff because of unlocking the bootloader it is void.

This is true. HTC doesn't really care if you unlock the bootloader and get it warranty fixed as long as it's a definite hardware issue.

Is there no way to relock a bootloader if it's already been unlocked?

There is but directly through HTC unlocker/ locker ut will say "LOCKED" on it instead of nothing. But (at least for my phone) there are ways to get S-on and the Bootloader totally locked up without it saying "LOCKED" like nothing was ever done to the bootloader.

It's funny though. I have a LOCKED bootloader S-off and the newest Hboot version which doesn't have an easy way of gaining s-off without messing with hardware and the diagnostic ports... The only reason I do though is I gained s-off when I had the lower hboot then I flashed my phone to totally stock which locked my bootloader (not that, that matters when I have s-off) to upgrade to the newest OTA which upgraded my hboot. needless to say though the OTA wasn't really worth it, since it was a very minor update lol

Thanks AC!

I briefly read the articles in the links you provide. When I get to work on Monday, I will print the articles and read them better.

So it seems to me from the articles that as long as the Android phone is a fairly high-end phone, it does not matter the screen technology, it should be good, and the differences are simply a matter of preference.

True story. My phone has a super LCD and I personally pefer s-LCD over AMOLED even though AMOLED is considered "better". AMOLED IMO just doesn't look all that natural and tends to have a very shallow viewing angle. And to put it in perspective that screens really don't matter as much as people think. The HTC One series have Super LCD 2 screens.

There are differences, but usually not enough to make much difference, unless you are super picky about them.

As far as screen is concerned ,it is a personal preference . It should look good ,should be visible in sunlight . Thats what matters to me .
It only makes a difference if you are an exotic overpaid blogger who claims to know the difference between red, crimson, scarlet, brick, salmon, ruby and rose .

The One S is Super AMOLED. I think it's just the One X that is Super LCD 2.
