Ok, here's my "expert" opinion (expert, being self proclaimed). He didn't really butcher your post, he poked at you. I've met too many people like this (and politicians do it all the time). His strategy is character assassination. He posts like that, because if he can outdo the "expert," he feels bigger. Don't stress about it man. If you argue, make sure you do it well. If you succeed, he will feel even smaller and more insecure than he already is (because his plot didn't work), but my advice would be to just let it go.
