i think i read it before it became a movie. same with where the heart is. my neighbor let me borrow the book then a few months later heard it was being done as a movie.
where the red fern grows was a good book, though its been YEARS since i read it (now i have to add it to my kindle wishlist). old yeller was a good book too. dont think i've seen the movie though.
The movie is just as hard to watch at the end...I have seen where the heart is and both seen and watched old yeller
