Total brick thanks to Samsung .
I was ok with a PMP . (lets not forget I was a ROM dev...)
I am furious with a total brick due to negligence/cunning-ness on part of Samsung Care .(Yeah I am furious ,I will believe that Samsung issues standard protocol to maximize profits from repairs )

Yeah that's why I got it. I forgot that was the exception tho, not the rule. I don't think I'll ever own another Samsung tho unless I can find a similar situation. Odin/Kies are not in my vocabulary. And HTC dev unlock isn't my favorite either since it marks the booloader with a scarlet letter. Uggg, running out of under the radar root options for my tastes.

I am looking at Sony Ericsson . They look pretty sane as an android vendor since they release less number of mobiles ,follow/are active on XDA and have/maintain a dev. blog . Loved the clarity .Plus my older SE is saving my skin right now helps .
I may also look into Sony for laptops (after HP ) .Knocked off Asus and Samsung from the list (interestingly both have crappy service in my area)

And that's why there is the revolution method which does a total unlock of the bootloader and not a partial unlock... although that puts a big "revolutionary" on the top of the hboot screen... lol not that it really matters... You only see it while in the hboot screen and fastboot and such, but not in recovery.

Yeah but it no longer appears to work on the Rezound so HTC dev unlock is all that is left. Even if you relock, it show up as having previously been unlocked if I'm not mistaken. And in that event, warranty voided. So if you have a legit issue that requires a replacement...are you going to get one or not? Sure seems like they wouldn't have to.

well for the MT4GS there has been a tool created that completely locks s back on
. I'm not sure if it only works with revolutionary method or that method and HTC dev or not but my hboot was a lower on that could be used with the revolutionary method so doesn't matter to me

Karan, I can't help but ask. Is there any way to image the download mode from a working phone? Is it a subfunction of the bootloader? Where does the code reside?
