Let's see your car mounts.....

The car mount I used for EVO 4G transitions nicely to my EVO 3D.

I'm kinda confused about how you have that mounted in your G35. Isn't it blocking your A/C controls? I have mine on a mount that's suctioned to the glass. The vents in the G35 rotate vertically, no way to mount it there.

Here you go...

Mountek, CD Car Mount for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices, including iPhone, iPhone4, Android, Blackberry, Garmin and more

It's actually mounted into the cd player. Very novel design and would only work for you if you don't play cd's. My music comes from my phone so I don't use cd's.

Just to add. The mount places the phone in front of some the less used controls on my G, but if I need to access them I can shift the mount to vertical.

Funny I just asked in another post about car mounts, LOL

Ah! That would make sense. I upgraded my radio to a double din. Anyway, that looks great.. I would have done this years ago.

Would this also work for a zune hd?
Also, how sturdy is it?

Never seen a zune in person to know. You can always check the site. As for sturdy I've put two different devices in it that are rather expensive with no fears. It's quite sturdy. On major bumps there's a slight jiggle, but if you are hitting a major bump you aren't looking at the phone anyway.

I did, it only mentions maximum spread, and the zune is a small thing lol. I'm not worried about the phone shaking, I just don't want it to fall off.

So, for my old Touch Pro 2, I just had a really cheap car mount I got on ebay (actually, this one:)

Unfortunately, my new Evo 3D is just slightly too large to fit, so alas, I need to find another. Looking for any recommendations, and maybe someone to alleviate my fears. The above mount is only a portrait mount, no real Landscape option. With my TP2, this was no problem, and I could always have it plugged in in the car since the port is on the bottom.

With the port on the side of the Evo 3D, and with the history of the OG Evo's charging port issues, I'm worried about running the Evo 3D in landscape due to possible pressure on the port from a charging cable. Am I at all justified here, or just paranoid?

Oh, and lastly, if anyone has any recommendations, that'd be awesome, but the one thing I don't like is a suction mount. I prefer vent mounting all the way. Having a ball joint or something of that nature to change between landscape and portrait would be nice too, but not necessary. I'll be looking for one myself the next couple of days, but anyones opinion, especially someone who has tried one before is most definitely appreciated.

I don't use a car mount, but I agree on the USB port location. I am thinking of ordering a cable with a right angle connector to reduce the stress:

I never would have thought of that...that's a great idea. I think I might even have a little right angle adapter just sitting around here somewhere. Not sure how much help it'll be, but the more I think about it, having it in landscape and having a cable hanging out the bottom then doesn't seem much better. Ugh, too tired, might need to call it a night.
