Thanks for the suggestion of using "Smart Shortcuts".

The only thing: Smart Shortcuts does indeed have ads exactly like App Categories.

I'm continuing to use Smart Shortcuts, however. It just seems to bring up the icons in the windows a little faster than App Categories.

Well, the only thing I can do is relate your question to my own processes.

I'm finding out more and more that rooting is not necessary to customize your Android. I haven't taken the leap into rooting yet.

One thing that I recently learned that is KEY to having more freedom over the layout of your homescreens is using a launcher different than the stock one. Right now I am using LauncherPro. It let's you customize almost every aspect of your home screen down to the dock buttons at the bottom of the screen to how many icons there are in a row or column. I would start by installing a new launcher and see where that takes you.

If you need any help, just pick a style from the examples in this thread and send a message. Most everyone here is friendly enough to teach their ways!

I could have sworn I saw a screen shot of yours that had ads in the popup window. I must have imagined it lol

It's looking good so far. I like your image for the "camera" icon. And it's funny, I almost used the same pics for the "phone" and "calendar" icons. If you're going to make additional icons and need any of the images I used, just let me know.

Also, I assume you're using a non-stock launcher and Desktop Visualizer for the icons. It looks like you're already using a 5-row/4-column setup. If you want your icons to line up better, try the following dimensions for the images:

1x2: 110 x 260
3x1: 350 x 125
4x1: 470 x 125
(width x height)

Man your layout above is awesome. I'm just wondering where did you get all the images from? also I'm seeing a lot of people with the dock bar that is the word style instead of icons. how do you do that with LauncherPro?

The "Poker" and "Mail" images are photos that I took. All of the remaining images are just from Google searches and from Stock Exchange stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site

I made icons in Photoshop for LauncherPro that are just the text. You can replace the icons in the dock with whatever you want, so I just made some 84x84 .png's with my own text on them. Then copied them into an "Icons" folder I made in the DCIM folder.

On your dock, just press and hold the icon you want to change and select "Change Icon" from the pop-up menu.

Voila!

Ridley, does SwitchPro allow you to toggle 3g on and off or is it just a shortcut? Does it work the same as the HTC Mobile settings toggle?

I was told that it could not be done by the author of "Extended Controls".

Also, nice swype theme btw =)

Thanks for sharing your layout. I didnt know about Folder Organizer and I got it last night and love it! Its really what android should do stock...

If you mean change the icons to the "text" format everyone is using:

Hello this is my first post here.

I like to keep it simple really, but i do switch up quite often, mostly because i flip ROM's and cannot remember how i had my stuff lol.

Here are some screens:

Screen 1: my geek stuff. SetCPU, settings, etc.
Screen 2: the essentials
Screen 3: time killers

SkyRaider 3.3, stock kernal it came with (for now)
LauncherPro

Thanks. :p I'm really glad you went ahead and made the red theme. Yes, SwitchPro does toggle 3g on and off. It is a great little program. There are a lot more buttons you can add as well. (Flashlight, Uptime, ect.) I can switch between Wifi and 3g with 2 button presses.

I've been saying this since it was released. I love how smooth it is and adding more programs to the folders is as easy and can be.
