Help LG Ally problems

Actually Zoandroid that was a different guy. My phone never got hot playing games(I use past tense since I don't have them installed anymore).

Oops. I am sorry for the mistake. I was typing that reply on my newly acquired Droid X, experimenting with Swype. I guess I missed that it wasn't actually from you. :)

Back to my previous suggestion, then. If you can figure out whether it is the Ally or the battery which is actually the cause, then you will know what options you have to deal with it. If we lived near each other we could try trading batteries and experiment. Know anyone personally who also has an Ally?

Yeah my dad has an Ally. I guess I could try that. Although ever since resetting it it hasn't had too many problems. I still think something is wrong with the phone but I think I can handle it until my upgrade or sooner. Although it did restart itself three times yesterday after I would slide the keyboard closed or open. It definitely has been doing that a lot more. Also, the touchscreen doesn't seem to work very well anymore. I don't know if that's just lag or what but it's kind of annoying.

I can tell you that my Ally has spontaneous reboots, and the touch screen definitely has some issues. I wasn't sure about that until I got the Droid X and ran the same app without input problems I was seeing on the Ally. How old is your Ally? I got mine when they came out in May 2010.

I got mine Aug. 25, 2010 so about 14 months now.

Back when I was using Palm PDAs, I had to replace a digitizer a couple times because they would get a defective area. If I used a simple drawing program, I was able to find the area by lightly touching the stylus to it. Instead of making a dot, as it should, the bad area would draw a "vector" line about 3/4" long off in some direction when that spot was touched.

On the Ally, when I am using ES File Explorer and LAN mode to access files on my PC, I have to avoid touching the left half of the display (landscape) because if I do it will suddenly switch modes in the middle of what I am doing, and go back to Local or some other mode. The same app on my Droid X works just fine without that problem. So there is a troublesome area in my Ally's screen.
