Root LG Ally Root Help Needed! First timer!

Hey everyone!
I own an HTC Eris, but my girlfriend owns LG Ally. I have rooted my Eris but she now wants to root her LG Ally. I am familiar with rooting, but not for the Ally. Could anyone recommend how I can root her phone safely?

Also, what ROMs do you recommend? I don't think she wants anything fancy, is there is ROM that's close to the latest Stock ROM for Ally? Suggestions?

The overstocked rom by remicks is just as plain as you get but amplified.
My rom (Bionic zero) has an htc/droid feeling to it and a little half and half of stock and development from sdk/source

Try looking up gingerbreak.apk on google for rooting

Both OverStocked and StormDroid are custom roms with lots of tweaks for performance and stability without deviating too much from stock, Velocity is no longer in active development but us a grear rom and Bionic Zer0 is rgocal's newest creation with quite a deviation from stock but quite nice as well. I don't try to oversell OverStocked but if ur lookin for a stock-ish rom that outperforms her current one you should give it a try.
