Will this work with the Optimus V? It has the same usb as the regular charger, but just wanna see what you guys think?

It will work fine. It charges at the exact same rate as the wall charger that came with the phone. So phone will never know the difference.

Woah chargers actually make a difference!? I'm using the wall charger that came with the phone upstairs, and downstairs I use the charger from my old palm pixi. Is this hurting my phone? It seems fine...

If it fits, it will work. Micro USB is the global standard now for all cell phone chargers and data cables. The Optimus V (and every other Optimus) uses a Micro USB connector.

Note that not all chargers will supply the same power. "USB power" is when you plug into a computer or other device that can't supply more than 500 mA (milliamps of current, 2.5 Watts at 5 Volts) of power. "AC Power" is when you plug into a higher-rate-capable charger like a wall- or car-charger that can supply the full 1 Amp (1000 milliamps, 5 Watts). The phone will obviously charge faster on "AC Power". Also, not every wall- or car-charger can supply the full 5 Watts. Read the label.
