Got my new LG esteem. installed MobileLG drivers.
Now when I connect phone with micro usb-usb connection, it give me this message: ""automatic USB mode change has failed"
I tried usb debugging, off and on, and I tried changing "connection mode" between "internet connection" and "mass storage"
No dice.

Any ideas?

thanks!

I did that and am now attempting to root with CWM.
I downloaded the package, and I am running the windows installer, but I only get as far as "daemon started successfully" Does it notify if the Mod was successfully installed?

Thanks.

Your phone will reboot. Just let it sit for a bit. Sometimes it hangs at that for a few.

Downgraded the phone (thanks Gbiggie insane crane, playfulgod, and and redghook) to B, rooted it with CWM, removed all bloatware, installed root explorer, liberty toolbox, superuser, dolphin browser, busybox, quickboot and titanium backup.

still getting the ""automatic usb mode change is failed." error message, and having problems connecting my LG Esteem to my computer, despite having downloaded and re-installed the latest drivers with the LG update tool, three separate times.

I remember that my ascend had a little window that gave you an option of either a USB mass storage connection or the Huawei bridge which allowed me to access the phones file system as though I was using root explorer or something like it. is there something like this for the Esteem?

thanks.

Has anyone had this computer-Esteem problem?

Thanks!

I suspect you still have some malware or virus on your system causing problems. You might want to do a clean install.
