Help lg esteem memory

When i connect my lg esteem to my computer, can i just delete everything i see on the internarl part of it.(not the external sd card, the internal one)?
Plus, my debugging wont turn on

If you want to delete everything off your internal. You can format in your phone settings

I did that and nothing was erased
