Help lg g2 soft bricked.

hello. i recently purchased lg g2. its back cover says d802 but on the inside it says d801/d803. so first idk what model it actually is. can u please help me figure out its model?
secondly after a firware upgrade through lg pc suite it got stuck on lg logo and wont move forward. it can enter download mode. idontknow much about software programming so i seek help. i took it to repairs but the guy said someone flashed the wrong rom into ur phone as we cant determine which model it actually is so now you have to purchase new IC for your phone. so rom flashing wont fix the problem now i guess. please help me out whether i really have to change the ic or it can be solved through software fix. i would be really thankful for ur help.

It can be fixed but you need to know what model is stamped on your motherboard. The white model stamp at the bottom center of the phone (with rear cover removed) is not always accurate. Typically between that and looking at how the 2 gold ribbon cables are marked which go up either side of the phone will tell you but the only way to truly know is to look at the upper left corner of the motherboard. There is a square(ish) shaped silver, metallic area that will typically have the model stamped on it. You may or may not have to uppermost black, plastic dust cover to see it.

Once you have your model positively identified, and assuming you do in fact have a true download mode (meaning the "firmware update" screen with progress bar reading 0%), then you may have options depending on the model. There is false download mode which says download mode on the screen along with 5 blue dots, be aware.

Let us know what model your mobo says and we can help further. FYI, this is an all too common situation sadly. Phones are being sold as D802's but contain d800/d801 mobo's which causes huge problems when accepting ota updates or flashing custom recoveries and roms.

i checked it today with an engineer and he confirmed it for me that its an at&t d800 model. but the bad news is that as rom flashing wont fix the problem its come to something called EMMC which needs to be changed as it is used to store baseband and other stuff and the wrong firmware update have damaged it. i cant find emmc for lg anywhere. markets are flooded with emmc for samsung but no lg. if this truly is case of emmc can u help me find it anywhere on the internet?

It's fine, download mode can still fix it. So again, need to know which of the two potential download mode screens you're seeing as mentioned in my previous post. Also need to know any information on how this issue came to be. Were you rooting and trying to flash a custom recovery at the time of the failure? Were you unrooted and received an OTA update or was that lg pc suite upgrade effort the very first thing that happened which brought you here? Those clues can be very helpful in fixing.

Also, without rooting in the future, I can't say it would be 100% "fixed" I guess I should rephrase that. The phone can again be functional. But unless rooted, you would only be able to run d800 (AT&T) firmware on it. So as an unrooted user, you'd only be able to update via download mode. Meaning you're relying on tot files which are leaked and not intended to be publicly available. We do have a kitkat tot for the d800 but it's somewhat unlikely that a lollipop tot will be acquired. Root users could update by way of a custom rom when lollipop officially hits the g2.

Also, please be aware of the "watch thread" option here on these forums. If you decide to do this yourself it's a semi involved process and us talking once per day isn't going to be ideal. Or you can catch me at certain times on freenode IRC, channel #lg-g2 if you want to fix it in one shot.

the problem occured when i connected it to lg pc suite for the first time and it said there was an UPGRADE available so i upgraded it. after sometime when i checked the phone was stuck on lg logo screen and wont move forward. so i took it to repairs and they flashed custom rom into it after which the phone would go to hard reset mode and download mode but wont move forward. again i must say he flashed a wrong rom that of d802 not knowing it was actually a d800. i took it from him and showed it to another expert and he said the emmc is damaged. the download mode shows fastboot and portchange, reset, usb start, commands like that. i just want the phone up and running.
im basically helpless now as nobody knows what to do. many say its a hardware issue and the emmc must be changed some say they need time to look have a look at it. i dontknow what to do. ive been looking for its emmc for a long time now but cant find it. can i ask u a question out of the box? just in case i cant find its emmc can i use another emmc for eg that of samsung on it?
id love to catch up with you if you think it can be fixed in one shot and seek ur help.

That is not download mode but rather fastboot mode. It only presents itself when download mode, regular boot, and recovery have been made unavailable. You are correct that he flashed a d802 firmware to the phone which landed you in your current state. You do not however need new eMMC as this is not a hardware issue but rather an issue that can be solved with software while interfacing the phone to a pc by way of a usb charge cable. I have assisted dozens of people escape from this very situation and by far the most efficient way would be in IRC where we can talk in real time. If you are available right now go here:

http://webchat.freenode.net/

The nickname field can be any nick that's not already in use so chances are almost 100% that you can use the same name you're using here. In the channel box, enter #lg-g2. Answer the captcha, press the connect button and you'll be in. Once you're in, look at the active users list for me (my nick is Ncrypt3d in IRC, I have a + by my name), click on my nick and select 'query'. Then at the bottom of your screen there'll be a blinking cursor in an empty field. Type hello or similar in there which will message me and start a conversation between us.

edit: since an hour has passed, I will defer to other activities for the day. feel free to PM me and we can set up a time that works for both of us if you're interested.

There are 2 distinct types of qhsusb_bulk mode. One is 9006 where windows tries to mount a bunch of drives when its plugged in. This is fixable by us.

The other is 9008. In this mode, windows does not try to mount a bunch of drives (which are actually the partitions). This is only fixable by a few people who have proprietary Qualcomm software. The fix occurs by one of those people remoting in to your machine and making it happen.

So ideally, you want the prior and not the latter.

so how do i figure which one is mine? i left a message for u in webchat seems like your busy at the moment.

Yeah I'm at work currently, drop me a pm here if you'd like to find a time that works for both of us. However I can't really help you if its a 9008. I think if you double or right click on the qhsusb_bulk item in device manager you can find properties or similar which may help identify as one of them.

okay thankyou ill contact you. but what about that emmc thing? do you think it will solve the problem? and can i use other manafactureres emmc on lg? because i dont think so lg makes emmc. youd have to take it out from another phone.

You don't need new eMMc. Yours is fine, it just need rewritten with the correct partitions. Since you just posted a few moments ago, I'm on IRC now if you happen to catch this.
