Help LG G3 No Contract Options

Lurker
Hello,

I would like to get the new LG G3 phone. I never tried a "no-contract" option, so I don't know too much about it. I have a few questions regarding the no-contract approach with the LG G3:

  1. Is anyone else purchasing the LG G3 (no contract)?
  2. If "yes" to #1 above, what carrier's monthly plan are you looking at and why?
  3. Are there any carriers' month-to-month plans that do not support the LG G3, since it's still so new?
  4. I suppose if I want to use a carrier that uses AT&T/T-Mobile towers, I need a GSM variant of the phone. Similarly, if I want to use a carrier that uses Verizon/Sprint towers, I need to get a CDMA variant of the phone. On Amazon.com, I see a "AT&T" variant, "Verizon" variant, and "Sprint" variant for no-contract. Is the AT&T variant the GSM, while the other too are CDMA?

Furthermore, with carriers that are not the big 4 (say, Straight Talk, Boost Mobile, etc.), I know they utilize the big 4 networks to provide 4G LTE speeds. However, are the speeds comparable to have service directly with the big 4 companies, or, are they a bit slower due to throttling, etc?

Any additional feedback advice would be much appreciated.

T-mo is now no contract company. I bought from them. Paid full price though.

T-Mobile. I use the Simple Choice plan, which starts at $40-50 a month. $80 gives you unlimited everything. Here's a link for more info: http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/individual.html

They also have the Jump program, which gives you the opportunity to get your G3 at $0 down. There's a credit check for that, and you'll have to pay in installments for at least six months. At the end of six months, you get the option to keep paying the installments or switch to another handset. I've been grandfathered into the old Jump program, which immeditately terminates all old debt with the phone your trading in once you DO trade in. The current program I believe you have to pay for 50% of what's owed before you can trade in. Please, anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that. And, should you wish to leave T-Mobile at any time, you can. You just need to pay the remainder of your phone's balance before you do.

Either way, there's no contract involved at all. And Jump can be pretty sweet, IF you keep up on payments. I'm not sure the G3 is available on any other no contract providers as of now. You may need to wait if T-Mobile isn't for you.

switched to T Mobile when buying the LG g3.so far, im very satisfied with their speeds and connection. Unlimited lte for $80 is a great deal. I originally planned on going with Verizon but almost had a heart attack when I read their fine print and rates, lol.
