Hi- I am new to the forum and really tried to research the threads to see if this problem has been addressed with my phone and service. Also I am not by any means a techie, but I do know a little bit about rooting and bricking although I have never done it.
I am a longtime LG/Android user and just got a new G3 Model D851 T-Mobile unlocked phone. I have been a Straight Talk customer for about two years now (unfortunately all I can afford with 5GB of data). So I bought a new sim card and service it worked instantly. I didn't have to adjust the APN settings or anything. It was running just fine for about a week. BTW my service uses the AT&T towers and I live in San Jose, CA if that info helps.
Then I get an update notice from LG to upgrade from Kitkat to Lollipop 5.0.1 Instead of doing my research first I thought "new is better". The update went smooth and then as soon as it was finished I had no mobile data access. I can make calls and text but anything else is out of the question. Well technically I do have a wifi signal but I don't have a password to any of them so I am still blocked from the internet, particularly at home. The main reason I chose ST is so I can access the internet at home without a wifi connection. I guess I could sit in Target or Starbucks every time I want to use my data!
I tried every trick I found on the web including updating VPN settings, turning my phone on and off, and putting it in airplane mode and switching it back to mobile. From everything I have heard the update is not better and many people with G3's have wished they could go back to Kit Kat. I wish I could go back to Kit Kat too so I can have a fully functioning phone. I am afraid to root it. 1. Because I don't know how to even though the directions seem simple. 2. I have only been using my phone for two weeks and don't want to brick it or void my warranty.
Should I contact LG since the update was provided through them? Straight Talk customer service is a nightmare. At this point I guess I want to stick with Lollipop if there is no way to get back to Kit Kat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Only time will tell if I have all of the other problems with Lollipop that I have read about.
