Help LG G3 optimization app i cannot get rid of

clubt

Newbie
I have a LG G3 Phone. This week I noticed a green minion looking icon on my desktop to the right. When I click on the icon it gets bigger. When you move it to the bottom of the screen over what looks like a black hole graphic it shoots up like a rocket and performs an optimization. I never installed it and cannot figure out how to get rid of it?

No it does not. All you can do is run the app when you grab the minion and hover him on the bottom of the screen.

Thanks for the idea, but I have no idea what to delete as it does not show in my app list?
Any ideas on how to figure that out?

In normal mode, when you long press it a trash can or a letter X should appear at top of screen that you can drag it into

It may show disable app at the top of the screen when you long press

I tried safe mode as you instructed. The minion is not there in safe mode and i cannot identify any program associated with it. The minion reappeared when i rebooted in regular mode. The only thing you can do with the minion is hover him over the black hole gif at the bottom of the screen when he shoots up like a rocket and does its optimization. No trash can or delete option is seen when you have him grabbed hovering on the screen. When you let go, the minion goes back to the side of the screen. Minion is only seen on the side of the screen from the home screens. If I have an application open it is not seen, for instance if i'm reading email, the minion icon is not there. Thanks for your help.

Is it possible to do a remote session on a phone like you would on a computer so somebody could see what I am talking about?

I can't, I have out of town family arriving shortly.

But - I'm about 99% sure that I've seen that one, I just can't place the exact name.

If I'm right, you want to look for any app you have that says clean, cleaner, kill, manager, battery or task in the name.

Verizon has taken to installing an absolute piece of snake oil on people's phones after the fact, other carriers may be next.

The malware claims to clean and optimize your task list, ram and battery life but does exactly the opposite, trying to hook you into a paid version at some point.

Some of the crappy anti-virus apps have pushed out this same sort of thing with their updates.

I can't guarantee I'm right, but I bet 10 quatloos I am.

PS - check your launcher - some of them have started doing this, along with some of weather widgets.

There was someone with the same problem a few months back, and I can't remember the dog gone name either, but if my memory servers me right it was some kind of cleaner app, you could start looking there! It had the same stupid rocket ship and all!!!!

I guarantee your memory is right, I remember that thread as well.
If it's not this one they are first cousins for sure!!! Hope the mods forgive the double post, but I didn't want to clutter the last one up too much!

It's not Super Task Killer but you're on the right track.

Many of these pieces of crap come from the same Chinese software house and they get off on the "super" eye candy.

The key to this one is that stupid M in Superman symbol but I can't find the trademark again.

It's almost become personal now, I can't find anything on this S.O.B. either!! I totally remember that thread some where on here, I have tried a search on the site with "alien" and "rocket ship" but it didn't come up. Hope it didn't get lost in the shuffle when the site got a make over, it seems to be more of a common problem than I first thought!

OP have you tried adding the widget to another screen to find out what it's called (long press an empty part of a screen, choose "widget" and look through the list for "cache", "optimise", "task", etc....) ?
