Help LG GT540 advise

Hi all I'm new here and just wanted to post and find out if someone can help me I brought a LG GT540 some time back and didn't receive a manual as i have heard a number of people didn't either.

My main question is i have a memory chip in the phone but cannot work out how to download the images from my phone/chip onto my pc.

I am using Windows xp, When i hook the phone up to the laptop it doesn't read anything.... Has anyone got any ideas how to move images from my chip onto my pc please.

I have photos on my chip i dont want to loose but want to upload onto my pc.

You will need to install drivers for the lg so xp can pick it up. the LG PC suite 4 is something to download - unsure if it does work on xp. Otherwise most electronic stores will sell an SD adaptor that you can place the micro sd into and use in the SD card slot.
