new to the forum and gt540, question is why can i only see third party apps under manage applications?.thanks in advance.

You cannot kill or remove stock applications. Only third party ones. Unless you have a rooted phone and wish to see the light, then with Titanium Backup or other assorted programs you can choose to 'freeze' or remove entirely the stock apps or 'bloatware'

If you just wish to see all the applications under the manage applications button and not modify them, whilst in the manage applications menu, press the menu button, go to filter and select the option all, instead of downloaded only, which is what I believe you'e got selected, at the moment. It doesn't allow you to remove any apps, which are a aprt of the standard installation, however, you can clear cache and data, if you wish to.
If you, however, wish to uninstall the factory apps, you would need to root your phone, just like our fellow member has pointed out in the reply above mine.
